Operational Principle

Water birds have been using the wing-in-ground effect for millions of years to lift themselves from the surface of the water into the air.

They make use of the ascending force or lift which builds up due to the air pressure conditions between the surface of the water and their wings and enables them to move forward above the surface of the water with little expenditure of energy.

Dipl.- Ing. Günther W. Jörg made systematic use of this knowledge and, in 30 years of research work, developed the Tandem Airfoil Flairboat.

The tandem wing design offers an ideal transfer of the well-proven principle of the wing-in-ground effect as found in nature into an air-cushioned vehicle which travels at high speed across water.
